Jiawei Xiaoyao Pills

Xiaoyao Pills are primarily composed of Bupleurum, Angelica, White Peony, Atractylodes, Poria, Honey-fried Licorice, Mint, and Ginger. They mainly function to soothe the liver, strengthen the spleen, nourish the blood, and regulate menstruation.
 

Jiawei Xiaoyao Pills, on the other hand, are based on Xiaoyao Pills with the addition of Moutan Cortex and Gardenia. These added ingredients enhance the original formula by providing the effects of clearing heat and cooling the blood. Jiawei Xiaoyao Pills are more suitable for conditions caused by liver Qi stagnation turning into fire, such as chest and flank distension and pain, irritability, a flushed face with dry mouth, poor appetite, tidal fever, and women's menstrual issues like early periods, irregular menstruation, and breast or lower abdominal distension and pain.
